Gone Fishing

Well this last weekend was beautiful, warm, no wind, and looked like a great opportunity to be outside. Fishing was definatly on our minds. But the fun started Friday night when we went for a drive in the country looking at different property that we heard was for sale. Ray thinks it would be great to buy some land, build a home or put a manufactured home on it, raise a couple of cows (to eat one day), have a big vegetable garden, and maybe grow some alfalfa or something like that. Well, we went looking...saw some great places, but didn't find anything we could afford. Looking is fun and maybe, someday, we will find something just right for us. Then... Saturday morning we got up and headed out to a nearby lake to see if we could catch a fish or two. Now it's been a long time since Bev's been fishing but she was excited and ready to go. We went to Blue Lake, which is about 1/2 hr. from home. We arrived about 8 or 8:30 after a relaxing morning enjoying breakfast. There were several other fishermen around the lake but there was plenty of room for us to slip into a spot. As we were pulling in, another rig pulled in behind us with 4 men in it and we shared the same piece of shoreline. We all started fishing but it was soon apparent that the other group was using some sort of "secret bate", they couldn't keep the fish off their hooks. They were reeling them in left and right. During that time Bev managed to hook one and got it up to the shoreline but it spit the hook out of its mouth and swam off. Morning was starting to wear on, and the other fishermen were starting to limit out. One old timer (a retired Sargent who now fishes 3-4 times a week) took notice of the lack of activity on our part and came over to check on our progress. After examining our gear, he soon set us up "his style", and BAM...immediately Bev caught two and Ray caught one (it's obvious who the better fisherman is). Then after our fun morning of fishing, we enjoyed Polor Swirls at DK's (our local burger joint) on the way home.

That evening, we met up with Ray's sister, Donna, and her family to go see Prince Caspian at the local movie theater in Ephrata. What's fun about our little movie theater is that it has booths in the back so that you can order pizza and eat while you watch the movie. It was alot of fun. We really enjoyed our weekend and can't wait until the next one.

There's something in the water in the great NorthWest. Bev is fishing and my mom is White Water Rafting (in Boise)....you ladies are adjusting well from California! Now..my husband Reed on the other hand would LOVE if I jumped in a lake, but there's something about NOT being able to see the bottom that scares me. haha! I grew up around swimming pools :) Im still a California girl.

Love you Bev!
